The Hajj

        Have you ever seen about 3 million of people in one place at the same time? Let’s take a journey to know how and where it happens! Hajj (pilgrimage) is one of Islamic pillars. A Muslim must do it at least once time in his life. However, it is just for capable people, if the person cannot do it, here it is optional. For example, if he does not have money, or he cannot travel or he is patient. Hajj is mandatory for capable not only men but also women.

        Mecca (mecca is a city that is located in western Saudi Arabia; it has the holy mosque; it is called Al-Haram that it has AL-kaaba) according to some resources Kaaba is the center of the earth, that what is really surprising me. Additionally, there are many interesting and holy places for example, Al-Safa and Al-Maura, and the place that prophet Abraham stepped on it which show his feet from thousands of years ago until now.   

        People go to Mecca to do Hajj and Umrah.  In the last month of the year in the Islamic calendar (lunar calendar); it is called Dhu al-Hajj. Hajj start in 8 to 12 and the biggest event during this duty is the ninth day of hajj, which is called Arafah. During this day people go to the mosque that located in Arafat’s mountain in order to spend that day ask Allah to forgive him and mercy him and help him. People who are not in hajj should fast this day (it is optional but all Muslims prefer to fast on this day).  Men must wear white clothes called ihram women wear any things, but must cover all her body because no man can bother her. People come to this place for one reason to ask Allah for their needs.

       There are many benefits of hajj. First one is people who do not do any things bad and do not bother anyone he will come back home without any sins Allah forgive him all his prior sins and mistakes. As prophet Muhammad said ““Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of pleasing Allah and therein utters no word of evil, nor commits any evil deed, shall return from it as free from sin as the day on which his mother gave birth to him.” Second one is no discrimination during hajj. There are no distinguishing between poor and rich, black and white, presidents and residents, and women and men; all they are equal. Third one helping poor people; pilgrims scarify animal (animals must be chosen carefully; also they should be good) and give these meat as charity to poor people from over the world. Hajj is a wonderful worship that people do; many of them cannot explain their feelings when we ask them. It is amazing to see people walking as a stream from place to place.
